This Cookie Policy explains how BookingsHub, operated by Blue Dot Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, uses cookies and similar technologies on bookingshub.lk and on our mobile applications (together, the "Platform").
Please read this policy alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal information more generally, and our Terms and Conditions.

What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit a website. Cookies allow the website to recognise your device, remember your choices, and understand how the site is being used.
Cookies do not run programs, carry viruses or give us access to anything else on your device. Most cookies contain nothing more than an anonymous identifier and some basic settings.
We also use a few related technologies that work in a similar way:
- Local storage — a small amount of data saved by your browser, used to keep you signed in and to remember your search settings
- Session storage — the same idea, but cleared as soon as you close the tab
- Pixels and tags — tiny image files or snippets of code used to measure whether a page or email has been opened
In this policy, "cookies" covers all of these.
Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- Keep you signed in as you move between pages
- Remember your language, currency and display preferences
- Hold your search results, filters and dates while you compare listings
- Keep your booking details together from the search page to the confirmation
- Keep the Platform secure and protect it against fraud and abuse
- Understand which pages and listings are used most, so we can improve them
- Measure whether our marketing is reaching the right people
We do not use cookies to store payment details. BookingsHub does not process, collect or hold payments — you pay the provider directly — so no card or bank information is ever stored in a cookie on our Platform.
Types of cookies we use
1. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the Platform to work. Without them, you could not sign in, search for a listing or complete a booking.
They are used to:
- Maintain your session while you are signed in
- Remember items you have selected before you confirm a booking
- Balance traffic across our servers so pages load reliably
- Detect and prevent fraudulent activity and automated abuse
- Record your cookie preferences so we do not ask you on every visit
These cookies cannot be switched off through our cookie settings, because the Platform will not function without them. You can still block them in your browser, but parts of the Platform will stop working.
2. Functional cookies
These cookies remember the choices you make so the Platform behaves the way you expect on your next visit.
They are used to:
- Remember your preferred language and currency
- Remember your recent searches, filters and destinations
- Keep you signed in between visits if you choose "remember me"
- Remember whether you have dismissed a notice or banner
If you disable these, the Platform will still work, but you will have to set your preferences again each time.
3. Analytics and performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how the Platform is used, so we can fix what is not working and improve what is.
They tell us things like:
- Which pages and listings are viewed most often
- How visitors move through the site from search to confirmation
- Where people leave a booking unfinished, which usually points to a problem
- How quickly pages load, and where errors occur
- Which device types and browsers our visitors use
The information collected is aggregated and used to understand overall patterns, not to identify you personally.
4. Advertising and marketing cookies
These cookies are used to make our advertising more relevant and to measure whether it works.
They may be used to:
- Show BookingsHub advertisements to you on other websites and social platforms
- Limit how many times you see the same advertisement
- Measure how many people who saw an advertisement went on to make a booking
- Avoid showing you advertisements for something you have already booked
If you do not accept these cookies, you will still see advertising, but it will be less relevant to you.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies on the Platform are set by other companies whose services we use. We do not control these cookies, and their use of any data collected is governed by their own privacy policies.
These include:
- Google — for analytics and advertising services
- Facebook / Meta — for advertising and measurement
- Map and location providers — to display listing locations and directions
- Content delivery and security providers — to serve the Platform quickly and protect it from attack
When you sign in using Google or Facebook, that provider may set its own cookies as part of the sign-in process. We receive only the basic profile information needed to create and identify your account.
We suggest reviewing the privacy and cookie policies of these providers directly if you want to understand how they use your data.
Cookies set by listed partners
BookingsHub is a listing platform. Some listings link out to a partner's own website, social media page or booking confirmation. Once you leave bookingshub.lk, this policy no longer applies, and any cookies set are governed by that website's own policy.
We are not responsible for the cookie practices of websites we link to.
How long cookies last
Cookies fall into two groups by lifespan:
- Session cookies — deleted automatically as soon as you close your browser. Most of the cookies that keep a search or a booking together are session cookies.
- Persistent cookies — stay on your device for a set period, from a few days to a maximum of two years, so the Platform can recognise you on your next visit. Your cookie consent choice is stored as a persistent cookie so we do not have to ask you every time.
You can delete either type at any time through your browser settings.
How to control cookies
You have several ways to control cookies on the Platform.
Our cookie banner
When you first visit bookingshub.lk you are asked to accept or manage cookies. You can accept all, or choose which categories to allow. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled here.
Changing your choice later
You can change your cookie preferences at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer of any page.
Your browser settings
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies. The relevant settings are usually found under Settings, then Privacy or Security:
- Google Chrome — Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies
- Safari — Settings or Preferences, Privacy
- Microsoft Edge — Settings, Cookies and site permissions
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings, Privacy and Security
- Mobile browsers — usually under Settings, then Privacy or Site settings
Please note: if you block all cookies, you will not be able to sign in or complete a booking on BookingsHub, and parts of the Platform will not work correctly.
Opting out of advertising cookies
You can opt out of personalised advertising through your Google and Facebook account settings, or through your device's advertising settings.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed industry standard for how websites should respond to it, and the Platform does not currently respond to these signals. You can still control cookies using the methods above.
Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022 of Sri Lanka, and any other data protection law that applies to you, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to be informed about how it is used, and the right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time.
Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it, and will not prevent you from using the essential functions of the Platform.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Platform, to the services we use, or to the law. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page.
